Unlike the Wii U, which used a resistive touch screen, the Switch uses a capacitive touch screen, like most phone screens do.
Without boring you with the difference between the two, this means your Wii U stylus won’t work on your Switch, and you’ll have to buy a new one.
Can you use a stylus on switch?
Due to the Nintendo Switch screen, you can’t use a solid plastic resistive stylus (like the one bundled with the Wii U or 3DS). Instead, you need a capacitive stylus.

Why doesn’t the switch have a stylus?
The console doesn’t necessarily need a stylus, thanks to the 6.2-inch capacitive display on the regular Switch and 5.5-inch display on the Switch Lite. All you have to do is stretch your thumbs or use your index finger to use the display. Rather, the stylus functions best in games requiring more precise movements.
